All of the properties listed in this guide have been inspected. The AA and Visit Britain have joined forces to provide a national harmonised rating system that is a clear guide to what to expect in an easy to understand form. By including inspected properties only we aim to ensure visitors receive a certain standard of accommodation.
Hotels are given a rating from one to five stars, the more stars, the greater the range of facilities and level of services provided.
Guest Accommodation includes bed and breakfasts, farmhouses, guest houses and inns and is rated from one to five stars. The same minimum requirement for facilities and services applies to all Guest Accommodation from one to five stars. The more stars the higher the overall quality in areas such as cleanliness, service, hospitality, bedrooms, bathrooms and food quality.
Self Catering includes apartments, boats, cottages, flats and houses and is star rated from one to five.
Holiday Parks, Touring Parks and Camping Parks. There are two different rating assessment schemes. The AA use pennants (triangles) on an ascending scale from one to five. The VB rating scheme uses stars to indicate progressively higher standards of quality from one star (acceptable) to five stars (exceptional).
